Study Director, Preclinical Research

Company: Neuralink
Location: Austin
Posted on: September 23, 2022

Job Description:

Neuralink is developing ultra-high bandwidth brain-computer interfaces to connect humans and computers. We are building a team of multidisciplinary experts passionate about making a world-changing impact.
Neuralink is seeking an exceptional Study Director to join our Preclinical Research team. In this role, you will interact with Neuralink's technical and clinical teams, as well as senior staff, to ensure that preclinical studies are thoughtfully executed, critical data is gathered and analyzed to support regulatory filings, and methods comply with Good Laboratory Practices (GLP). The Study Director represents the single point of control for a study, and has overall responsibility for the scientific and technical conduct therein. This role involves frequent collaboration with the Study Manager as well as the Histology, Animal Care, Product, Quality Assurance, and Study & Surgical Operations teams.
You must thrive in an intense, mission-driven, and collaborative environment.
About You:

  • You are a serious thinker who uses a First Principles approach to identifying issues and solving problems quickly.
  • You are organized and can work independently.
  • You find large challenges exciting and enjoy discovering and defining problems as much as solving them.
  • You deliver results consistently. You may enjoy thoughtful conversations about problems and perfecting designs, but in the end, you know that what matters is delivering high quality research reports.
  • You are a cross-disciplinary team member. You are excited to work with and learn from software, mechanical, electrical, materials, bioengineers, and neuroscientists. You are comfortable communicating across teams.
  • Resourceful, flexible and adaptable; no task is too big or too small.

    Key Qualifications:

    • Evidence of exceptional ability in neuroscience, biomedical engineering or a related field.
    • 5+ years of academic or industry experience.
    • Experience working in neurobiology, including experimental and analytical design.
    • A strong understanding of the scientific method and engineering first principles.
    • Demonstrated ability directing and/or designing a project or study.
    • Successful IDE or PMA submissions.
    • Exceptional technical writing abilities.
    • Data analysis.

      Preferred Qualifications:

      • Experience with and understanding of GLP and FDA guidelines for implantable medical devices.
      • Experience working alongside engineers, scientists, veterinarians, and medical doctors.
      • Experience with research report authorship and technical review.
      • Familiar with project management software and techniques.
      • Python experience.
