Job Summary : The Human Resources (HR) Manager supports the mission and daily operations of Travis Association for the Blind (TAB) by developing and executing HR policies and procedures; managing the daily tasks of HR Generalists; performing recruitment, leading onboarding, exit procedures and various training programs; assisting with payroll and benefits; coaching managers on performance management, employee relations issues and employee training/development; and responding to employee questions and concerns. The HR Manager is also responsible for leading company or department projects, managing benefits, and for leading employee recognition and engagement programs. Responsibilities Provides high-quality customer service and support to employees and management on all HR-related matters. Advises and coaches managers on employee relations, problem solving and dispute resolution; recognition, performance management, compensation and benefits, etc. Collaborates with Director or VP HR on situations requiring investigations or disciplinary action; leads and conducts investigations and prepares appropriate documentation. Ensures TAB policies are administered fairly and consistently, including discipline and termination of employees Manages the daily workflow and performance of the HR Generalist team to ensure caring and empathetic HR support for all employees. Creates and implements HR programs and events to help improve employee engagement/morale Utilizes an HR information system to enter and maintain accurate employee data and to prepare reports and presentations; analyzes data and presents findings to HR Director/VP Creates and implements innovative solutions to improve HR programs and processes Leads recruiting efforts and processes. Oversees and participates in the interview, selection and onboarding process for new team members and ensures fair and equitable processes for the selection of employees for internal promotions/transfers Leads and/facilitates new employee orientation; ensures all new and returning employees are made to feel welcome and are well-informed on necessary policies, benefits, and other information Develops and facilitates training and development programs for managers and employees; ensures appropriate training for all employees to perform their expected job duties Facilitates employee compliance training and other training as needed; leads tracking of completion and currency of required training courses Ensures compliance with state and federal laws; monitors facility bulletin boards to ensure up-to-date postings of required information Ensures the confidentiality and security of all employee information and records; and ensures proper filing and maintenance of employee documents Supports the organization's safety and security initiatives; assists with Workers' Comp Administers or assists in administering the organization's Benefits plans and programs. Leads or supports the benefits enrollment, renewal, and distribution processes Researches new HR technology, products, and processes and collaborates with outside vendors, such as vendors for HR technology and products. Participates in conversions or installations. Collaborates with managers to write and revise job descriptions; conducts job analysis. Provides recommendations to HR Director/VP on position classifications and wage/salaries Communicates key company and department policies, announcements, and general information to employees using a variety of methods, to include: 1-1's, Huddles, Staff Meetings, Paycom. Distributes information in English and Spanish when feasible, and in Braille as needed. Writes and delivers feedback from Quarterly Check-In's and annual Performance Reviews; ensures departments attain on-time completion of all Check-Ins/Reviews Recognizes/rewards employees as appropriate Holds self and others accountable for behaving in accordance with behaviors aligned with TAB's Core Values of Leadership, Integrity, Growth & Innovation, Heart and Teamwork (LIGHT). Minimum Education and Experience Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field preferred Minimum of 6 years' experience in Human Resources or a related field required Minimum of 2 years' experience in a supervisory or management role required Prior experience leading or participating in an HRIS conversion a plus SHRM-CP or PHR certification preferred A combination of 3+ years' relevant college/university courses along with 8 or more years' experience in a Human Resources or related field may be substituted for Bachelor's degree and 6+ years of experience in Human Resources or related field Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Strong knowledge of human resources body of knowledge, to include but not limited to employee relations, recruitment, training, performance management, compensation, benefits, and D&I. Excellent verbal and written communication skills Advanced computer skills, including MS Word/Excel/PowerPoint; data entry, data processing Knowledge of and ability to use various types of payroll and human resources software Strong empathy and interpersonal skills; able to communicate effectively with employee, supervisors/managers, coworkers, vendors, and other departments. Detail-oriented with excellent analytical, reporting, problem solving, and organizational skills Excellent customer service skills and orientation Strong ethics and discretion with confidential or sensitive information Able to read and understand information and ideas presented in writing or in alternative form.
