low-income communities.Job DescriptionAbout the OpportunityThe
Manager of School-Based Mental Health will strategically support
schools to foster healthy and safe environments for students to
reach optimum achievement and wellness, serving as a thought
partner, problem solver, and change agent to internal and external
stakeholders with steadfast commitment to action. This person will
play a significant role in ensuring that our instructional vision
is lived inside of our classrooms and schools by supporting school
leadership teams with program implementation, instructional
coaching, aligned data-analysis practices and aligned professional
development opportunities, while also leading School-Based Mental
Health Services teams to ensure that all students have the tools
they need to learn.Duties and Essential Job Functions:
- Manage the operations of KIPP Texas' School-Based Mental Health
Program:
- Ensure research-based interventions for students with mental,
behavioral, and physical impairments are evident and supported at
the school based level.
- Provide operational leadership, management and direction to
Mental Health Services.
- Plan, organize and lead collaborative departmental
meetings.
- Coordinate and manage partnerships with community health and
wellness agencies.
- Maintain and update policies and procedures and operating
guidelines for School-Based Mental Health Services teams in
collaboration with the Senior Director of School-Based Mental
Health.
- Manage, respond, and support School-Based Mental Health program
compliance.
- Develop and lead crisis prevention and response efforts at the
school and regional levels.
- Support Mental Health/Social Service faculty:
- Coordinate and provide high quality professional learning for
continuous growth of individual Student Wellness service providers,
including but not limited to counselors and social workers.
- Conduct on-site visits to strengthen program
implementation.
- For School-Based Mental Health staff, provides coaching to
ensure fidelity of Mental Health programming and consultation
around mental health best practices.
- Forge, cultivate and maintain healthy relationships with
multiple KTX teams:
- Responsively follows-up and follows-through with students,
families, and faculty members.
- Through impact and influence, stimulates others to take action
and accomplish goals, even when no direct reporting relationship
exists.
- Builds coalitions to garner support by aligning proposals/ideas
with the needs and priorities of others.
- Develops mutually beneficial relationships and partnerships
based upon trust, respect, and achievement of common goals.
- Gains the trust of key stakeholders by active listening and
seeking to understand their views and needs.
- Performs other related job duties and training as

- Master's degree in a mental health, counseling, social work or
related education field
- Minimum 3 years of exemplary experience providing mental health
direct services to child and/or adolescents
- Minimum 1 year exemplary leadership coaching and management
experienceRequired Licensure/Certification/Specialized Training:
- Must possess at least one of the following certifications or
licenses:
- LMSW, LCSW, LCSW-BACS
- LPC-I, LPC, LPC-S
- LMFT Additional InformationCompensation and Benefits: In
addition to a competitive salary scale, a part of KIPP Texas'
competitive benefits options, KIPP offers all employees an $0 HMO
plan for the employee only. In addition to our $0 plan, KIPP
provides a $600 employer contribution towards a Health Savings
Account and a variety of other supplemental benefits such as
Dental, Vision, Short and Long-Term Disability, Pet Insurance,
Life, etc. Funding: The Manager, School-based Mental Health will be
funded directly from the Elementary and Secondary Schools Emergency
Relief (ESSER) grants awarded by the Texas Education Agency under
the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2021 (ESSER II) and the
American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 (ESSER III). This position will be
funded solely (100%) from the ESSER II and III allocation for
direct expenses through September 30, 2023, and may continue to be
funded through September 30, 2024, depending upon the availability
of ESSER grant funds. At the end of the grant period this position
may be eliminated unless other sources of funds are secured to
maintain this position or a similar position. The employee must
sign this job description acknowledging receipt of the job
description and signing their acknowledgement that this position is
grant funded and is temporarily aligning with the terms of the
grant period.
