Key Account Manager What we need from you We are looking for a resourceful, hands-on Key Account Manager to establish and nurture our most important customer relationships in the state of Texas. We have ambitious goals to establish EIGHT as a meaningful new entrant in super premium domestic beer.Given the market structure of the states retail environment, chain grocery, convenience, liquor and on-premise customers are must-wins. The Key Account Manager will own these relationships, setting account-level goals, leading strategy, developing programming, tracking results, and cultivating deep, mutually-beneficial customer relationships.

  • Self-motivation This role is highly autonomous. While you will always have the support of the executive team and the broader sales team, this role often works independently and with minimal direct oversight. Our success depends on our team proactively identifying needs and opportunities and then ensuring the necessary work gets done.
  • Customer empathy Our customers success will precede our own, so your ability to walk a mile in their shoes and to anticipate their needs ideally before they do is critical.Those who bring our product to market must believe beyond a shadow of a doubt that we have their best interests in mind as well as our own, and that while those interests may not always converge, we will build relationships based on transparency and mutual trust that we endeavor to reinforce on a daily basis.
  • A hustlers mindset As a new start-up, we have fewer people and less money versus our competitors so we must find ways to creatively achieve our goals despite the constraints. No task can be too small not my job is not in the job description.
  • Ability to collaborate We all share a common goal, and we must maximize the shared outcome. Good ideas can come from anywhere, and while we may respectfully disagree at first, once the team has committed to a course of action, we all jump in without reservation. The Key Account Manager must work across functions and support large-scale projects involving multiple team members and outside partners.

    • Represent EIGHT brand with the elite among Texas retailers
    • Develop close personal relationships with key customers in the off premise, on premise, and digital channels, working to understand customer needs, strategic initiatives that we can build upon, and pain points that we can help them solve
    • Coordinate plans closely with our distributor key account teams, ensuring that they have the latest information on customer plans and execution needs
    • Lead the Annual Business Planning (ABP) process and quarterly adjustments with our key account partners
    • Monitor closely KPIs and targets established in the ABP, working with our team and our distributors to optimize performance over time.
    • Represent EIGHT at trade shows, industry conferences and key customer events
    • Maximize EIGHTs physical presence at retail
    • Develop account segmentation and prioritization strategies that will drive smart distribution that which expands the brands presence and reaches our drinkers without overreaching
    • Establish guidelines for proper merchandising of on- and off-premise accounts
    • Identify all necessary point-of-sale materials and manage the allocation and use of such materials, working with our Trade Marketing team.
    • Develop staff/bartender education programs, tasting schedules, etc.
    • Plan and coordinate on- and off-premise promotions as required
    • Train, schedule, and manage 3rd party sampling teams as to specific customer needs
    • Ensure EIGHT has a first-class sales function
    • Operate effectively within budgetary guidelines
    • Track and monitor progress in all identified accounts
    • Collect and analyze data on distributor pricing, distribution, volume, and general market information
    • Compile and submit reports required for the sales division to demonstrate market penetration, efficacy of the team and incentive programs, areas of opportunity, etc.
    • Observe all state and federal laws pertaining to the sale, merchandising, and promotion of malt beverages
      The basics What we expect you to bring to the table
      • 3-5 years experience in the beverage alcohol industry, preferably leading key account relationships within your geography or retail segment
      • Ability to interface with various levels of management at wholesale and retail
      • The ability to manage multiple tasks with competing timelines and deliverables
      • History of working cross-functionally to move projects forward
      • Evidence of success in leading key business initiatives
      • Demonstrated ability to take a project from ideation through to implementation
      • Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to speak in front of customer teams, conduct staff trainings, and host evening functions
      • Excellent written, verbal, and technical communication skills
      • Willingness to travel overnight, reliable transportation, and a good driving record
      • Willingness and availability to work nights and weekends
      • Located in or willing to relocate to Texas
