Sr. Manager, Systems Design Engineering - 113641

Come join the team responsible for driving AMD's Shift-Left strategies, planning and execution of our Client Compute Products, which are used by major OEM and compute solution customers in the world. In this role, you get to lead a high performing team of system design engineers responsible for defining, creating, and executing Client SoC features on pre-silicon platforms. You get to interact with multiple stakeholders (firmware/BIOS, SW, IP, SOC DV, SOC and system architects) to plan, create, execute, and debug system use cases on FPGA and emulation platforms, in addition to advancing pre-silicon infrastructure to expand validation capabilities.

The Person

AMD is seeking a Manager with strong technical Project Management background to lead and grow a team of pre-silicon validation system design engineers. Furthermore, we are looking to find a technical leader who thrives in an environment that requires creative debugging skills, drive to improve pre-silicon system validation coverage capabilities, and a passion for improving our overall Shift-Left strategies and goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Owns planning and driving execution of pre-silicon validation of Client SoC Products.
  • Works across a multi-disciplinary organization to pull together SoC validation plan/schedule, prioritizes workstreams, and drives execution of validation plans.
  • Reports project status, risks, quality and coverage metrics to upper management on a weekly basis.
  • Grow, mentor and lead a team of System Design Engineers.
  • Works with emulation technical leads to understand SoC requirements and identify system level use cases and best pre-silicon platforms to execute and debug firmware. Preferred Experience:
    • The soft skills:
    • Results oriented with a strong project management background and the ability to create plans, rally the team, and execute on commitments.
    • Proven track record of growing and mentoring a team that works in a cross functional and multi-geo environment.
    • Highly organized, strong attention to detail, able to prioritize, and balance multiple work streams.
    • Ability to attract, hire and grow, coach and mentor new teams while working in a fast-paced environment.
    • Excellent communication and collaboration skills with the ability to influence and persuade multi-functional team members.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication and executive level presentation skills
    • Seasoned in leveraging MS Project, Excel, Share Point, Teams or Confluence for clear communications and coordination of work. The technical skills:
      • Experience in x86 and/or ARM based SoC Architecture
      • Experience in validating SoC features in a pre-silicon environment such as FPGA, simulation and / or emulation.
      • Exposure to low power, security, IO(USB, PCIE, Memory) feature validation in SOC environment.
      • Familiarity with JAMA, JIRA and similar Systems Engineering requirements management and defect tracking tools. Academic Credentials:
        • Bachelors/Masters in Computer Science with experience in pre-silicon hardware verification experience and management experience. Or
          • Bachelors/Masters in Computer Engineering with experience in writing Software modules to validate hardware and management/technical project management Location:
