The experience we would expect the ideal person to deliver is: GENERAL DESCRIPTION SunPower is seeking to hire a Commercial Solar and Storage Performance Manager located in Austin, TX. This position will be responsible for managing a team of engineers who support the operational performance of a portfolio of SunPower constructed solar photovoltaic (PV) plants, and associated energy storage systems, primarily in the behind the meter commercial and industrial distributed generation market segment. The position will provide technical direction for a team of engineers and make frequent presentations to key internal and external stakeholders on the operational performance of their assets with the goal of ensuring financial returns for asset owners. Specific responsibilities will include: Management of a team of performance and data backfill engineers responsible for the preparation, quality control, and publication of performance reports for multiple portfolios of solar and energy storage assets on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis. Coordination with O & M and Asset Management staff to deliver presentations and respond to customer questions, regarding the performance of managed assets. Assume responsibility for production numbers used for invoicing and administrative reporting. Quantification of performance guarantee and availability guarantee risk, and the development of technical response plans to improve the performance of at-risk sites. Program management of the Commercial Solar wash program to direct wash spend and track performance improvement from washes. Negotiation and administration, including payment issuance, of performance guarantee and availability guarantee payments to or from SunPower counterparties. Coordination with SunPower sales teams to updates models for new contract pricing based on component failure rates and performance guarantee risk. Evaluation of the performance guarantee and availability guarantee underwriting practices to ensure the profitability of the portfolio of contracts. Coordination with the O & M Operations team to provide technical direction for real-time operational issues. Coordinate the procurement of specialized engineering skills (such as SCADA or electrical engineering) needed to resolve site issues. Coordination with SunPower Digital Services to provide business requirements related to the maintenance and development of performance monitoring collection, storage, and analytic systems. Coordination with the SunPower Development Engineering team to manage the implementation of revisions to solar performance models in operations. Coordination with the SunPower Energy Storage team to implement new battery systems into operation. Coordination with the SunPower Comissioning Team to manage the operations of new solar projects. Act as the primary company subject matter expert on operational commercial solar and battery performance. Minimum Requirements: Bachelors degree and 5+ years of related experience Advanced Degree is desirable OR an equivalent combination of education and years of related experience Preferred Requirements University degree in Engineering 8+ years of relevant industry experience Advanced degree in Engineering, Information Systems, or Data Analytics Previous experience managing a team of engineers Previous experience managing the development of distributed sensor data collection systems Previous experience within the renewable energy industry (wind and/or solar preferred) Advanced user of Microsoft Excel including comfort with Pivot Tables, Power Query, and Macros Proficiency in SQL and Python or R Demonstrated ability to be self-motivated and perform job tasks independently in an unstructured environment with limited direction Capable of identifying technical risks and establishing connections to business concerns Comfortable in a fast-paced, growing company Detail-oriented and capable of driving multiple projects simultaneously Strong oral and written communication skills Strong interpersonal skills, professionalism, and ability to work closely with members of different business groups and functions of a global company at all level Strong desire to advance the adoption of renewable energies in the global energy mix Ability to travel at least 10% of the time both domestically and internationally Based in Austin, Texas Equal Employment Opportunity The Company is an equal employment opportunity employer and makes employment decisions, including but not limited to, hiring, firing, promotion, demotion, training, and/or compensation, on the basis of merit.
