Our Opportunity: Schwab is looking for a Senior Application Performance Management (APM) Engineer to join for our newly built Cloud operations team. Ideal candidate is passionate about performance and proactive monitoring of multi-tier applications and end user experience. Promote usage of APM tools during the application development life-cycle phase and optimize use of APM across platforms and service delivery models by collaborating with various application and operations teams across the org. This candidate is a confident self-starter who's not afraid to dive into areas they may not familiar with, and communicates well. Lastly, they must be able to work with team members across disparate geographic locations. What you'll do: * Develop deep technical expertise on the APM products and the application stacks and use those skills to address performance related issues as required * Build Highly-available and scalable APM infrastructure with appropriate monitoring and alerting mechanisms in place. * Engineer solutions and establish standards for APM infrastructure, agent deployments, including optimizations and tuning's per requirements. * On-board applications to APM platform, train users on best practices to proactively monitor performance in their environment as well as use the product to identify performance bottlenecks as needed * Seek opportunities for integration of APM products with other monitoring tools available in the org * Implement available APM Monitoring Extensions appropriate for the technology stack * Adopt APM for usage in Cloud IaaS and PaaS models * Provide guidance for application/operational teams to setup policies, alerts, dashboards and custom configuration to get full visibility into their entire environment * Work closely with product owner and team members to decompose stories, design features, and prioritize tasks * Identify technology gaps/risks early and establish mitigation plans What you have: * 8+ years of overall IT experience in application development/system administration, 3+ years focused on APM tools * Deep knowledge of APM products such as AppDynamics, Dynatrace, New Relic or similar in Unix environments is required.
