Job Description Job Description Director of Purchasing Position Overview The Director of Purchasing / Procurement Manager is responsible for overseeing the procurement process, managing supplier relationships, and optimizing purchasing strategies to ensure efficient and cost-effective operations within the manufacturing sector. This role aims to enhance the supply chain efficiency, reduce costs, and ensure the timely availability of materials and services required for production. Key Responsibilities Develop and implement purchasing strategies that align with company goals and objectives. Oversee the procurement process from sourcing to purchasing and vendor management. Negotiate contracts with suppliers to secure favorable terms and pricing. Monitor market trends and supplier performance to make informed purchasing decisions. Collaborate with manufacturing and supply chain teams to ensure material availability and quality standards are met. Manage and mentor the purchasing team to foster professional growth and development. Utilize AS400 and other ERP systems to manage procurement activities effectively. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field. Minimum of 7 years of experience in purchasing or procurement management, preferably in a manufacturing environment. Proven experience with sourcing and vendor management. Strong negotiation skills and contract management experience. Familiarity with AS400 and supply chain management software. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Strong leadership and team management abilities.
