Job Description:
Bridge Preservation Engineer I:Performs complex bridge and
structural engineering work in support of bridge preservation.
Organizes, plans, and performs work in support of statewide bridge
preservation including developing preservation plans/strategies for
major/signature bridges, advancing TxDOTandrsquo;s bridge
instrumentation and NDE capability; participate and lead
initiatives related to bridge preservation. Ensures compliance with
applicable federal and state laws, policies, procedures, standards,
and guidelines. Work requires contact with governmental officials
and private entities. Employees at this level follow standard
practices that do not require frequent supervision of
details.Bridge Inspection Engineer II:Performs complex bridge and
structural engineering work in the functional area of bridge
preservation. Organizes, plans, and performs work in support of
statewide bridge preservation including developing preservation
plans/strategies for major/signature bridges, advancing
TxDOTandrsquo;s bridge instrumentation and NDE capability;
participate and lead initiatives related to bridge preservation.
Manages consultants performing bridge assessments and condition
surveys. Ensures compliance with applicable federal and state laws,
policies, procedures, standards, and guidelines. Work requires
contact with governmental officials and private entities. Employees
at this level perform work independently on assignments; all
unusual issues are referred to the supervisor.Bridge Inspection
Engineer III:Performs complex bridge and structural engineering
work in the functional area of bridge preservation. Organizes,
plans, and performs work in support of statewide bridge

bridges, advancing TxDOTandrsquo;s bridge instrumentation and NDE
capability; participate and lead initiatives related to bridge
preservation. Manages consultants performing bridge assessments and
condition surveys and leads preservation programs. Ensures
compliance with applicable federal and state laws, policies,
procedures, standards, and guidelines. Work requires contact with
governmental officials and private entities. Employees at this
level are virtually self-supervising and assume direct
accountability for the work product.Essential Duties:Bridge

Performs inspections, structural evaluations, and analyses of
bridges and related structures Develops and/or reviews engineering
related documents, correspondence, reports and remediation
plans.Rates and monitors load carrying capacities of bridges.
Travels statewide as required to perform essential duties. Answers
technical and policy questions related to bridge
preservationAnalyzes data and provides summaries. Performs other
job responsibilities as assignedBridge Inspection Engineer II:Makes
presentations and represents TxDOT.Performs inspections, structural
evaluations and analyses of bridges and related structures.Rates
and monitors load carrying capacities of bridges.Travels statewide
as required to perform essential duties.Answe s technical and
policy questions related to bridge inspection and maintains bridge
inspection data; analyzes data and provides summaries.Develops
and/or reviews engineering related documents, correspondence,
reports and remediation plans.Performs moderately complex
structural analysis of bridge designsReviews literature, technical
data, material specifications and procedures.Monitors contract
performance, evaluates contract deliverables, reviews billing
documentation, monitors the consultantand#39;s compliance with the
terms of the contract, and/or prepares and delivers a written
evaluation of the consultantand#39;s performance. Performs other
job responsibilities as assigned.Bridge Inspection Engineer
III:Makes presentations and represents TxDOT and performs and/or
documents in-house research studies.Performs inspections,
structural evaluations, rating, and analyses of bridges and related
structures that have low appraisal and condition ratings or are
recommended for closure.Rates and monitors load carrying capacities
of bridges.Answers technical and policy questions related to bridge
inspection and maintains bridge inspection data; analyzes data and
provides summaries.Develops and/or reviews engineering related
documents, correspondence, reports and remediation plans.Performs
moderately complex structural analysis of bridge designsReviews
literature, technical data, material specifications and
procedures.Chairs or serves as a member of a contract selection
team and manages consultant contracts.Coordinates with districts to
lead bridge preservation initiatives.Performs other job
responsibilities as assigned.Bridge Inspection Engineer IV: Makes
