Center for Materials for Water and Energy Systems (M-WET) at The
University of Texas at Austin has an opening for a polymer
synthesis scientist. This position entails the synthetic
preparation of functional polymers for water
purification.Responsibilities
- Synthetic preparation of functional polymers for water
purification.
- Prepare and maintain records of syntheses, interface with M-WET
team members to understand synthesis needs and plan accordingly,
contribute writing to manuscripts and reports to sponsor as
necessary.Required Qualifications
- Applicants should have technical experience with air- and
moisture-free synthetic processes (e.g., Schlenk techniques).
- Master of Science degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering,
Materials Science and Engineering, or related disciplines with four
years of experience or Ph.D. degree in Chemistry, Chemical
Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, or related
disciplines with two years of experience is required.Relevant
education and experience may be substituted as
appropriate.Preferred QualificationsExperience with one or more of
the following: anionic polymerization, handling gaseous reagents,
100+ gram scale synthesis, polymer purification, size exclusion
chromatography, and/or NMR spectroscopy.Salary Range$70,000 -
$90,000 + depending on qualificationsWorking Conditions
