About the Opower team: The Opower Data Engineering group at Oracle Utilities is a cross-functional team of application developers, big data engineers, and data platform ops engineers, who ingest and analyze billions of utility data reads monthly. What you will do: As a Data Engineering Architect, you will work in an Agile development environment to learn and collaborate with other groups engineers in designing, building, maintaining and supporting batch and stream data processing pipelines and the platforms that will power them. You will also mentor and guide the engineers in the group in the Data domain. You will report to the Group Director and work across all teams within the Data Engineering group.These data pipelines and platforms will empower some of our core utility and consumer energy savings and management insights. What you've done:

  • 5+ years of experience launchingand maintaining atleast3+ Machine Learning products in production processing and serving millions of requests per day.
  • 5+ years of experience architectingand managingdata clusters, jobs, and pipelines ingesting millions of records a day. It would be awesome if you also had:
    • Experience in one of the scripting languages - Python, Ruby, Bash or similar.
    • Experience developing, maintaining and supporting production grade distributed data processing applications on Cloud Native Stacks like OCI, AWS or Azure is a big plus.
    • Experience architecting and evolving existing architectures in distributed data processing applications. #LI-Remote Analyze, design develop, troubleshoot and debug software programs for commercial or end user applications. Writes code, completes programming and performs testing and debugging of applications. As a member of the software engineering division, you will analyze and integrate external customer specifications. Specify, design and implement modest changes to existing software architecture. Build new products and development tools. Build and execute unit tests and unit test plans. Review integration and regression test plans created by QA. Communicate with QA and porting engineering to discuss major changes to functionality. Work is non-routine and very complex, involving the application of advanced technical/business skills in area of specialization. Leading contributor individually and as a team member, providing direction and mentoring to others. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 7 years of software engineering or related experience.
