Sr Front End EngineerNew Iron is helping hire a Sr Front-End Developer for a dynamic, growing, profitable Austin edtech start-up.You will join a team responsible for developing, implementing, and designing UI for web applications. The ideal candidate will have experience consuming backend services using PHP framework and exposing them to modern React front end applications. We are looking for engineers who optimize for simplicity to deliver user experience focused on quality and efficiency. Being a strong engineer, hands-on, and capable of designing and developing complex SaaS applications is most important to succeed in this role.If you consider usability, accessibility and performance in products you build, we'd love to speak with you! Responsibilities: * Architect and maintain web based UI applications using React * Refactor to optimize the codebase and reduce technical debt * Deploy new features and pages* Interact with back-end services, APIs and processes across multiple products* Help guide and mentor team members on UI best practices * Improve usability and reduce UI complexity * Communicate effectively with stakeholders across all levels of the business* Help foster an engineering culture that leverages decoupled systems and automated CI/CD/testing/monitoring Required Skills: * 5+ years of experience in front-end application development * Experience consuming RESTful web services* Expertise with HTML, CSS and JavaScript * Demonstrable experience with React.js * Exposure with PHP middle tiers, i.e., Laravel or Symfony* Experience working with PHP* OO Design and design patterns* Experience with Single-page applications * Experience creating and delivering responsive web experiences, leveraging the latest in browser and device capabilities ( UI/UX designs ) * Strong understanding in using version control such as Git * Agile; practical experience with unit testing esp TDD in a CI/CD environment * Demonstrated ability to use any given software stack * Excellent communication, collaboration, time-management skills The following is a strong plus: * Experience with AWS cloud services, containerization, kubernetes * Experience with other JavaScript frameworks (e.g., Angular, Vue, etc.)* Experience with UI testing frameworks such as Selenium, etc. This is a direct-hire role for a client based in Austin, TX.
