Job DescriptionJob Title: Operating Technician - Aurora/Tie Marking FLSA Status: Nonexempt Department: Operations Reports to: Aurora Manager GENERAL DESCRIPTION / PURPOSE: The Operating Technician - Aurora/Tie Marking, is responsible for operating and maintaining a sophisticated array of image sensing devices retrieves data from the bed of hi-rail vehicle. The data are streamed to out offices and analyzed at our headquarters by the Data Analysis team. This is field based position. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Talent Development * Attend continuing Company internal and customized training. Accountabilities and Responsibility * Drive a hi-rail vehicle on tracks throughout the USA and operate the image sensing equipment and software with little to no supervision. * Monitor data flow during the data collection cycle, backup data and stream data to GREX offices at the end of every workday. * Operate the Aurora track inspection data collection system, while pulling a paint trailer and setting on tracks with hi-rail vehicle. * Manage and maintain a highly technical data acquisition system. * Troubleshoot and fix equipment, paint system and computer problems. Communications * Communicate any problems experienced to engineering in a timely manner. * Produce daily reports to supervisors and internal and external customers. * Interact directly with customers and follow orders from railway representative. Licenses/Certifications: * Maintain Railroad Certifications * Maintain a valid Driver's License, in order to be insurable by the Company insurance company. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: * Ability to perform well under pressure. * Ability to work with a wide variety of people and personalities. * Ability to take extensive travel assignments of 21-30 days in a row and driving long hours. Able to fly to job sites and work during the weekends if required. * Always exhibit ethical behavior. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Education: Associates degree, in a related field. Experience: * Minimum of 1-year computer or technology background. * Railroad experience * Working knowledge with operations of data acquisition systems.
