Position/Title: Director of Marketing & Promotion


You are:

Waterloo Media Group, L.P is a cluster of eight radio stations in Austin, TX including: KLBJ-AM (590), KLBJ-FM (93.7), Lucy (93.3), ACL-Radio (97.1), KROX (101.5), KBPA (103.5), KLZT (107.1), and Mega 102.7.
Waterloo Media has an immediate opening for a full time Director of Marketing and Promotion in our high-energy radio sales and marketing department. We are seeking a dependable, hardworking and motivated individual with loads of initiative to support the sales staff.
General and Administrative duties include but are not limited to:
--- Leads the EMT effort in conception, planning, execution and recap/renewal effort of EMT client programs, events and other EMT-driven revenue opportunities. This requires close collaboration with the sales leadership team.
--- Leads the EMT effort in conception, planning, execution and reporting of Waterloo Media brand campaigns contests and events; including recaps and settlement reports. This requires close collaboration with the product leadership team.
--- Works with the Digital Content Director to integrate EMT programs, events and contests into our various digital platforms.
--- Ensures that the EMT staff works closely and regularly with sales teams on custom activation ideas for Incite, digital and event sponsorships.
--- Directly supervises EMT staff. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include efficiently organizing the department duties and responsibilities, interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
--- Oversees station contests including originating or adapting ideas, determining prizes, prize fulfilment and listener/user communications, maintaining accurate records of contestants and winners, and ensuring contests are conducted in accordance with FCC regulations and the applicable laws.
--- Help create and manage station budgets for non-spot revenue, non-spot expense, promotions, external marketing and events.
--- Oversee Waterloo Media's relationship with event promoters, related venues and vendors to plan and execute events.
--- Oversees all digital & print asset creation for events, promotions and campaigns.
--- Ensure the creation and maintenance of station promotions, remote, event and campaign calendars.
--- Oversee the timely creation and presentation of event sponsorship proposals.
--- Oversee use and maintenance of promotions equipment and vehicles.
--- Attends the monthly all-sales meeting plus regular meetings with the General Manager and with the EMT staff as needed.
--- Attendance at key events after hours and on weekends is a requirement of this position
--- Represents stations at community events, promotions, client events, etc.
--- Effectively presents information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
--- Works with the Market Manager to manage the cluster's public relations efforts including the timely and effective use of press releases.
--- Other duties as assigned
Qualified Candidates Require:
--- Minimum two years college; three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
--- Prior broadcast or media experience in sales preferred
--- Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus
--- Individual will be required to balance multiple deadline-oriented projects
--- Must be detail-oriented, work well under pressure, and able to multi-task
--- Ability to demonstrate initiative in getting things done
--- Valid driver's license and state mandated auto insurance required
