DescriptionAt Macmillan Learning, the health and safety of our employees and contract staff is a top priority. As part of the Bedford, Freeman & Worth Publishing team, the associate media editor assists in the creation and publication of valuable multimedia products and tools that support teaching and learning in high school titles. The associate media editor plays a significant role in supporting sales reps, adopters, and students in the use of the materials they create. The associate media editor is a team player who will work in coordination with the senior media editor, editorial team, and media production team as well as work independently and cross-functionally with product and other groups to ensure that robust media products are published in a timely manner.
This position can be located at either our Austin or New York office.
Major responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Coordinate with the media and print production departments and/or partners to ensure the timely publication of supplements and multimedia resources, recommending schedule changes as needed, and communicating regularly and effectively with all stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with editors and oversee digital content work to prepare media production turnover
  • Keep consistent and detailed records of project status from idea stage to completion, communicate with team members regularly about status and scheduling, and to keep the project on track for timely completion.
  • Identify, hire, negotiate with, and manage freelance authors and vendors (with supervisor's approval) in order to assure the timely delivery of quality content and media.
  • Assist the media manager with transitioning content between platforms.
  • Address any support and documentation needs for new products and features including standard documentation
  • Support sales and marketing by preparing and providing detailed content information during the marketing and sales process. Communicate with customers as needed to support products and gain market knowledge.


    • Bachelor's Degree required
    • Must have at least 2-3 years of experience in educational publishing
    • The ability to manage multiple projects concurrently in a fast-paced environment
    • Demonstrate attention to detail
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills
    • Strong interpersonal skills, with ability to form productive working relationships with vendor partners, editors, production, authors and author teams
    • Prioritizes effectively; performs well under pressure; able to deal with frequent change, delays, or unexpected events; develops innovative approaches and ideas
    • Ability to work independently and to seek help, when needed.
    • Works within an approved budget
    • Knowledge of Google Suite and Microsoft Office Suite
    • Comfortable with common digital devices - PC laptops and tablets, Macs and iPads, Android devices
    • Experience with HTML and LaTeX preferred, but not required.
