Position Summary The Texas Market Lead will play a critical role in the development and execution of our growth strategy in Texas and the region. This visionary leader will have the aptitude to leverage their external network and SOM talent and leadership of the firm to grow our presence, create world class design teams and deliver design excellence for existing and new clients. - The Texas Market Lead is: A highly motivated, creative leader with a deep understanding of professional practice, and aspires to the highest level of design excellence. - An entrepreneur with exemplary skills, talents or expertise that extends across SOM disciplines and applies regional expertise. - Committed to a shared practice; is passionate about quality, ethics, and the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration. - Position Responsibilities Collaborate with the Regional Managing Partners, Directors, Studio Directors, Office Management and staff to develop and execute a strategic plan for the office that is in alignment with regional market firm goals for each fiscal year. Consult potential clients about specific project requirements and opportunities for SOM, analyze potential project opportunities, translating and presenting results for weekly review with the Practice Group. Establish a local presence to support the work we are doing now and will be doing in the future. Leverage a rich professional network and engage accordingly to develop specific project leads; strengthen the pipeline of opportunities in the region, connecting with a broad range of clients, collaborators. Engages internal stakeholders and experts and outside collaborators to build best in class teams to deliver on business development efforts Evaluate relevant industry insights and information to drive regional business strategies. Monitor existing and emerging market trends to help identify potential opportunities for the firm Mentor, lead and build staff capabilities required to support work in the region. Collaborate with project team leaders on project negotiations and execution of contracts. Monitor budgets and project profitability for projects in the region. - Understand, participate in and promote larger firm-wide initiatives. Represent and communicate activities in the Texas region to broader SOM leadership. Champion regional communications efforts in collaboration with SOM Communications team. Minimum Qualifications Along with expertise in the region applicants should have superb communication skills, as well as the ability to prioritize, anticipate and organize workflow. This role will require close coordination with management teams, marketing and project design across SOM offices. Preference will be given to service-oriented individuals with the discretion, confidence and poise to effectively promote the firm's principles and expectations to high-value clients. Professional degree in Architecture. Licensed in state of practice; LEED accreditation preferred. Minimum 15 years of experience or equivalent knowledge, skills and abilities. General understanding of sustainable strategies and principles including familiarity with LEED or other green building rating systems. Demonstrated ability to successfully lead project teams and manage project schedule, budget and program. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Smartsheets, Adobe Suite and Google Workspace. Familiarity with Deltek Vision, Salesforce.
