Job Description:

The firm is a Texas-based investment firm with a 25-year history and track record making control investments in private companies with $5 million to $20 million of EBITDA. Historically and throughout the firm's history, value-based investments in the public market have been conducted directly by the CEO/founder; the firm is now seeking a leader to drive this function in close partnership with the CEO/founder.
On any given assignment, the senior analyst will work with the CEO and will have a high-level of responsibility at the strategy level, including identification of targets, analyzing financial statements and earnings reports, modeling, evaluation, and partnership thought partnership. The candidate may work across all sectors, but must have a strong passion for and belief in the fundamentals of the value investing approach. The candidate's core job duties will include assessing stock attractiveness by translating research and industry/company fundamentals into valuation estimates using multiple methods, and then partnering with the CEO to present and execute on recommendations for long-term gains.
As a member of a one-person team reporting to the CEO, the ideal candidate will be excited to create value directly while being part of a successful and well-established firm. SNH requires team members that are able to balance the need to think strategically and take on significant levels of responsibility with the need to be self-reliant and execute at the ground level.

  • 3-5 years of experience as an analyst at a value-based hedge fund or investment advisory firm; this may be at the analyst level ready for promotion to senior analyst, or a senior analyst looking for a new opportunity
  • Strong quantitative & analytical skills; Solid understanding of accounting, economics, the workings of financial markets, computer tools (Excel, various databases, Bloomberg, etc.)
  • Knowledge of financial statements and earnings reports
  • Modeling expertise
  • Ability to sort through a large amount of information to determine the key issues and to think quantitatively and assess probabilities of risk and return without complete information
  • Philosophical alignment with the team's investment process and theoretical basis (value based investing)
  • Demonstrated interest in identifying value-creating business models and an understanding of opportunity/risk balance
  • Completion of a four-year degree in Finance or related field
