Job Description:

Tesla Motors is seeking a motivated and talented individual to work in Gigafactory Texas Manufacturing's "Control Tower" that monitors and manages the factory in 'real time'. The ideal candidate will have direct manufacturing experience (shop leadership, manufacturing engineering, production planning), a technical background, strong communication and collaboration skills, and a passion for electric vehicles. This person will be responsible for monitoring the flow of product through the different shops of the factory to ensure that production output is being maximized. Their goal is to be 'looking ahead' to prevent issues and when issues occur, stepping in and working with all required groups (shop leadership, Production Control (material flow), the Master Scheduler, New Product Introduction, etc..) to develop the action plan and lead implementation to facilitate quick recovery to minimize impact on overall performance.

* Monitor the flow of material into, through and out of the shops, to ensure they are achieving the plans set for them.
* Responsible for managing the near-term plans (the next X hrs), as required, to maximize overall factory output. For example, this includes:---Managing and assess material risks from sub assembly shops and Material teams hour by hour to stay tightly coordinated with the mix of assembly configurations starting into General Assembly (Coordinating changeover on wheel and tire assembly line to account for vehicle variant mix change and supply)
* Changing the plan and providing optimal changeover points for a shop based on downstream conditions (e.g. stopping the build in Cell Production line due to line conditions in Battery Pack line)
* Facilitate and act as a point of coordination and escalation if and when issues arise. The OCC controller is responsible for leading shop leads through action plans to optimize production output.
* Support Engineering Change Order deployments through the shops facilitating schedule with NPI, Operations and PC and material planning. (e.g coordinating the trial timing and release of variant battery packs through General assembly)
* Review and lead daily KPI targets and operational review with operation and shop leads
* Identify opportunities and improvements to system and operations processes
* Manage OCC technicians across each shop
* Bachelor's degree in engineering, preferably with Operations.
* 3+ years related experience working in a manufacturing environment: lead or manager of a production line, manufacturing engineer, planner or scheduler (key is hands-on experience)
* Proficiency in analytical and reporting tools (MS Excel, Tableau) is strongly desired.
