a mental health hero and providing care to people who have
experienced severe forms of trauma, it's important to have
compassion. After weeks of preparation, the Nueces County JJAEP
were excited to finally kick off the official start of Spring. How?
A new student garden. National experts have established a dangerous
link: School discipline, dropout rates, and referrals enable the
school-to-prison pipeline. Trina Price and Nancy Flores are bright,
motivated entrepreneurs with fantastic ideas. We were able to sit
down with them and learn more about their vision, along with what
advice they'd share with aspiring business leaders. We're proud to

Stefanie Miranda and Lazara Arroyo! When a person experiences any

Assurance role within the Performance Quality Improvement
department is responsible for covering all aspects of internal
audit activity and aims to provide leadership reasonable assurance
that work performed by the department conforms with audit
methodology and meets quality standards (e.g., industry standards
and regulatory requirements). The Senior Director, Quality
Assurance role is expected to independently own audit quality
assurance activities and execute timely deliverables, regionally
and nationally, while also contributing to the advancement of
departmental objectives. #SWHQ Essential Functions: Act as a
leader, developing and promoting a workplace culture that values
diversity of thought, promotes integrity and creates an atmosphere
that supports coaching and fosters accountability. Engage as a team
player across peer group and in influencing audit management.
Maintain knowledge of audit quality assurance and improvement
program and audit portfolio including industry trends, business
risks, control frameworks, management strategy, regulatory
practices; and understands the business' products, systems, and
processes. Continuously improve the audit function, identifying
opportunities for improvement with thoughtful solutions, partnering
with business partners. Execute the quality assurance plan,
performing reviews of planning processes, risk assessments, audit
execution, regulatory and audit issue validations, and
other/thematic topical reviews. Develop and execute QA testing
programs designed to effectively assess the department's
conformance with audit methodology, industry standards and
regulatory requirements, including challenging audit scope,
execution, and conclusions. Challenge audit teams on work
performed, including appropriateness of scope, risks and controls
identified, risk ratings, controls testing (design and operating
effectiveness, inclusive of depth of testing), sampling,
sustainability, and conclusions. Influence management to understand
purpose of QA observations and obtain agreement with limited
management involvement. Develop QA reports with the ability to
contextualize findings to support rating, aligning to issues
identified and communicating improvement opportunities to the audit
teams and audit management. Perform ongoing monitoring of open QA
issues, escalate potential delays, and appropriately validate the
closure of action plans in line with procedures. Partner with audit
teams as a trusted advisor to support high quality work products
and promote accountability to sustain growth while expanding
services on a global scale. Proactively escalate potential issues
impacting delivery and manage deliverables, anticipating risks or
challenges and evaluating alternatives/solutions. Proactively
communicate issues, articulating the relevance of root causes
across audit quality assurance reviews, and anticipate emerging
issues that impact the department's risk profile, audit methodology
and audit practices. Qualifications and Requirements: Required:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business Strategy, Operations,
Learning and Organizational Change, or similar Advanced proficiency
in audit methodology and risk/controls assessments Strong
analytical/modeling skills with ability to convert raw data into
actionable business insights Must be flexible to work with issues
spanning several topics and understand position is not restricted
to one functional area Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) or
Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), (or ability to obtain
a certification within 1-2 years) Preferred: Certified Internal
Auditor (CIA) or Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA)
Knowledge of COBIT, ITIL, or ISO Knowledge of Project Management
Physical Demands: Must be able to read, write, and communicate.
While performing the responsibilities of this job, the employee is
required to bend, lift, seize, hold, grasp, turn, or otherwise work
with hand or hands. Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the
