Minimum qualifications: * Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience * 7 years of experience in operations finance, equity research, or financial planning and analysis, or 5 years with an advanced degree Preferred qualifications: * Experience in or understanding of the enterprise technology space * Experience with database querying (i.e., SQL coding and analysis) * Ability to work with cross-functional teams to frame problems, structure analyses, and drive to impact * Ability to communicate insights and relevant takeaways to a wide range of stakeholders including highly technical management teams * Ability to work in an unstructured environment and comfort with ambiguity, and ability to grow in a fast-paced, dynamic environment * Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and modeling skills About the job Financial Analysts ensure that Google makes sound financial decisions. As a Financial Analyst, your work, whether it's modeling business scenarios or tracking performance metrics, is used by our leaders to make strategic company decisions. While working on multiple projects at a time, you are focused on the details while finding creative ways to solve big picture challenges. Google Cloud Platform (GCP) is the fastest growing public cloud in the world. GCP delivers virtualized compute, big data/analytics, and machine learning tools to its customers at scale and speed, offering Google's leading technological infrastructure to external customers. Our Finance Planning and Analysis (FP&A) team supports the Product, Engineering, and Operations teams that builds and promotes GCP products. We manage the cloud profit and loss, including business growth, data center expense, payroll, and other expenses. We are an integral partner and strategic financial advisers to the cloud leadership team, advising on how to invest resources to grow a sustainable business. As a Financial Analyst, you will develop financial reporting, understand trends of GCP's businesses, communicate insights to executive leadership, and influence operational changes to the business. You will be integral to ensuring we are appropriately tracking business growth insights and infrastructure costs across multiple dimensions (e.g., product, geography, customer segments, etc.). You will work within a team with experience across all major cloud providers. The name Google came from "googol," a mathematical term for the number 1 followed by 100 zeros. And nobody at Google loves big numbers like the Finance team when providing in depth analysis on all manner of strategic decisions across Google products. From developing forward-thinking analysis to generating management reports to scaling our automated financial processes, the Finance organization is an important partner and advisor to the business. Responsibilities * Lead projects to improve platform as a service cloud finance insights and report key business performance indicators. Partner with cloud leadership to convey these findings and advance the insights. * Analyze data and synthesize information into business insights and strategic recommendations. * Identify and implement metrics to measure business results and identify opportunities for cost efficiency. * Partner with Cloud leadership to drive cost efficiency improvements and recommendations for strategic or operational changes. * Lead projects for the platform as a service cloud finance team converting strategic problem statements into a tactical action plan. Surface cross-product opportunities or driving cross-functional changes for globally optimized solutions.
