FLSA Status: ExemptReports to: VP of AdministrationSalary: $68,000 - $75,000 / yearPOSITION OVERVIEW:This position is responsible for providing historical and projected financial information about all organizational activities that will assist the executive team and management, its board of directors and other users in making decisions about the organizations future. This position establishes the organization's financial status by assisting in the development and implementation of systems for collecting, analyzing, verifying, forecasting, engaging in cost reduction analysis, and reporting financial information. This position oversees the accounting department and is responsible and accountable for the organization's financial operations, general ledger, and budget under the direction of the VP of Administration and the Chief Operating Officer.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following and other duties as assigned:* Manages and oversee the daily operations for the accounting department and functions. Including but not limited to: the day-to-day management of accounting, financial reporting, cash-flow analysis and the yearly budgeting process* Processes month and year end processes, accounts payable, general ledger, budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, capital asset reconciliations, fixed asset activity, etc. Including, reconciling bank statements and credit card statements for review and sign off by C-Level officers, Income Statement, Balance Sheet, Monthly variance, EBITDA projection, and Income Statement projection and variance by the 10th day of each month* Manages accounting controls by maintaining a chart of accounts; defining accounting policies and procedures. Maintaining and updating internal controls, enforcing proper accounting methods, policies and principles* Creates and implements processes and management methods to generate expected performance.* Avoids legal challenges by understanding current and proposed legislation; enforcing accounting regulations and recommending new procedures* Analyzes organization's financial results and prepare clear and concise variance explanations, projections, and recommendations* Coordinates and completes annual audits* Oversees budget and forecasting activities and ad hoc corporate accounting and other requests.* Participates in other accounting and finance special projects as needed.* Assists management team in operational projects and reporting* Establishes and implements short and long-range departmental goals, objectives and governing procedures* Manages a variety of external vendor relationships for banking and accounting* Hire and supervise accounting/finance staff in accordance with personnel policies and procedures including orientation and training, career development advice, establishing employee goals, conducting performance reviews, coaching, counseling and disciplining staff* Attends any BBB staff and management meetings as required* Attends Board of Directors and Executive Committee meetings as required* Performs other duties as assignedKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:* Experience in creating and implementing effective financial systems and processes, increasing effectiveness and efficiency in a fast paced, growing organization* Superior analytical and organizational skills with an emphasis on strategic planning* Comfortable and effective with multi-tasking, while delivering solutions* Ability to give executive level presentations* A thorough understanding of quantitative and qualitative financial analysis* Ability to maintain high level of confidentiality* Communication and interpersonal skills of the highest level with the ability to empower and motivate staff and justify actions taken* Knowledge of office administrative procedures and technology with extensive background in accounting software* Ability to ask - and answer - meaningful and impactful questions* Ability to work independently and change directions as neededQualificationsTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential duties.EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION/LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS NECESSARY:* BA/BS degree in Accounting, Finance or similar* 5 years accounting/finance experience, at least 2 years in leadership capacity* Proven knowledge of accounting principles, practices, standards, laws and regulationsPREFFERED:* Certified Public Accountant (CPA)* Master's degree in accounting, finance or related field* Not-for-profit accounting and leadership experience* Advanced knowledge and experience of forecasting and budgeting principles* Familiar with a variety of accounting and payroll software* Familiar with GAAP, cash and modified-cash accountingWORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:BBB's work environment is that of a typical office, and the characteristics described here are representative of those an employee may expect to encounter while performing the essential functions of this job.
